Frequently Asked Questions

FAQs

  • Our 5k course is 100% off-road! We’ll take you through shaded woods, grassy hills, cornfields, and more! The fun begins when the blacktop ends: grass stains are possible, dirt is guaranteed, and we won’t lie, it’s one tough little 5k! It won’t be easy out there but we think you’ll love the sights and sounds of the countryside and hope you’ll join us for this one-of-a-kind experience.

  • Yes! Your registration includes entry to both events- go run the 5k, feast on some pancakes, and then stroll the 1mi course and try to find everything on our scavenger hunt list!

  • We typically do two heats for our kids races: 0-4yrs and 5-8yrs. The distances are approximately .1mi and .2mi, respectively. As always, the kids can look forward to trying to catch a special guest on their run! We hope you’ll join in the fun and come cheer on our littlest runners!

  • No worries! You’re welcome to run, walk, roll, or crawl (not advised) our 5k trail. And for those who are wanting to enjoy the fresh air but maybe not the full 5k, we’d like to invite you to join us on our Walk in the Woods (~1 mile). We’ll be hosting a scavenger hunt that’s sure to entertain your little ones and there will even be a few special surprises waiting for you out there!

  • Hey, there’s no judging here. Registration will still get you a t-shirt, commemorative medal, AND a hot, delicious pancake breakfast!! Or just come out and join us for the silent auction tables, delicious concessions, and fun family activities!

  • Yes and No. The trail is paved with wood chips and you shouldn't have too much trouble pushing a jogging stroller (one with real tires) through our course but running with it is not recommended (unless you want a REALLY good arm workout). If you're bringing your kiddos on the course with you, we’d like to encourage you to take your time and let them enjoy all that the country has to offer. Plus, our 1-Mile “Walk in the Woods” comes with a scavenger hunt list for you and your family to explore in the woods!

  • While we love dogs/animals and know it's fun to take them on adventures, but we ask that you please leave them at home. Registered service dogs are absolutely welcome though!

  • If you count hills, rocks, and tree roots as obstacles then, yes, this is an obstacle course. But no, there will not be any man-made or intentional obstacles between you and the finish line!

  • Yes! I’m so glad you asked. Our Top 3 5k finishers for Male, Female, Youth Male, and Youth Female (<18) will be awarded a beautiful, hand-crafted plaque for their accomplishments!

  • Yes! Please feel free to stop out on Friday before the race between 4-7 pm to pick up your t-shirt and runner goodie bag. Our address is N580 Poeppel Rd, Fort Atkinson, WI. You’ll see a big red “Emmy’s Rustic Run” flag at the end of the driveway! Once you turn into the driveway, please proceed all the way to the top of the hill (do not park in the parking lot/field, that’s for Saturday). You may remain in your vehicle and volunteers will meet you to get you your event t-shirt, race bib, and goodie bag!

  • If you are unable to attend packet pick up on Friday, please plan to arrive between 8-8:30 am on Saturday and look for the “PRE-REGISTERED” sign.

  • Walk-up registrations are always welcome on Saturday, but please note that t-shirt availability is very limited this year. Our registration booth will open at 8 am!

  • There are multiple ways to register for our event on September 28 and join the fun! Register as an adult to join the 5k or 1mi races. Register a kid so that they can join the kids races. Regardless of how you register, you will receive an event t-shirt, pancake breakfast ticket, and access to all the other fun!
